A minor personal home  renovation project in 1999, at a property in Crofts Hill alerted the  founder that Crofts Hill and the surrounding communities desperately needed a full service hardware which would be instantly be able to meet all of the requirements of its customers, without them having to leave the area for many basic hardware requirements.

He immediately set about re-purposing his grandmothers old house in San-San, (the square of Crofts Hill), to being a small but effective little store which aimed to meet its customers' needs promptly and pleasantly. In the 25 years which have followed the Company has morphed into an organization which provides Western Union and Bill Express Services, and our latest addition is a full-service Supermarket and Wholesale catering to a whole myriad of the community's demands, all under one well organized and inviting roof.

The MacDonald family have been foundation members of Crofts Hill and the generations which have followed have been passionate about the community's growth, success and development. The success of the business is largely due the passion and belief of the family that small rural communities can be both prosperous and proud if its sons and daughters make the effort to make it so. So-Mo, Crofts Hill has grown immensely over the years and is recognized among the leaders in Upper Clarendon in the home improvement industry. As an entity which has branched out into the remittance business (as a sub-agent of Western Union), the bill payment business (as an agent of Grace Kennedy Limited), and now involved in the food service industry, So-Mo has made an   
indelible mark on Crofts Hill and its environs and indeed the quality and convenience of the lives of the citizenry.

Lately, So-Mo has been promoting and hosting on its lawns, annual events such as Crofts Hill Kite Fest, Crofts Hill Food Eating Competition and The So-Mo annual Suppliers Expo which allows our various suppliers to expose their goods and services to a deep rural and yet very central audience right here in Crofts Hill, a mere 4 miles from the geographic center of the island. In addition, we proudly invite vendors on our grounds every Christmas Eve, free of cost, for Crofts Hill's very own Grand Market Day extravaganza which includes shopping in the day to partying into Christmas morning and everything in-between.
We are also very honoured to have been invited to play an integral roll in hosting and helping in the promotion of the community's Donkey Carnival, an annual event put on by the Donkey Carnival Committee  of Crofts Hill.

The launching of this full service, shop-on-line website will be a first for Upper Clarendon. In our continuing focus on community development we hope that in the years to come many more will follow. 

So-Mo, Crofts Hill is proud of its contribution over the years and will continue to strengthen its association with the schools, churches and the various civic associations and groups to make Crofts Hill and all of Upper Clarendon the miracle we have the potential of becoming.
